The Rio de Janeiro Maru, with Pão de Açúcar in the background. Built in 1930 and measuring 9,627 tons, this vessel sailed on OSK's "Around-the-World" line. During World War II she served as a submarine-support ship, and in 1944 was sunk during an American air attack off the Carolina Islands, in the Pacific Ocean.
