The packet steamer Rio Amazonas, belonging to La Ligure Brasiliana, an Italian shipping company that plied the route between Genoa and Manaus from 1897 to 1903. The Rio Amazonas, ex-Maranhão, was built in 1891 and sunk by a German submarine in 1917.
